Joe's Diner
A Payment Processing Story
Meet Joe.
Joe owns a small diner in his community that he established 30 years ago and it has become a neighborhood fixture and favorite community watering hole.
When he first opened his doors, he accepted only cash or check, but as time went on he was forced to accept other payment methods. Now, well over 90% of Joe's customers pay with credit or debit cards.
Joe has recently switched his merchant services provider to Acme Payment Processing Services. They integrate with his point of sale system, and they had a competitive rate. As a restaurant, Joe pays 2.9% + $.30 each time his customers use a credit card, so for a $20 tab paid with a personal credit card, Joe gets to keep $19.12.
Joe has also recently accepted a cash rewards card offer from his bank. It is an AlphaBank Visa, and Joe gets 1% cash back on anything he buys with the card.
He has decided to use the card to earn cash back when paying his largest supplier, Green Farms Foods. They do a ton of business with restaurants all over the region, and are more than happy to accept payments via their merchant services provider, Bravo Payments.
